28th Tuckers Maltings Beer Festival

Thursday 21 – Saturday 23 April 2022

Non-CAMRA event organised by SIBA, the Society of Independent Brewers.
After having to cancel the event in 2021, The 28th festival will be held on Thursday 21st April 2022, Friday 22nd April 2022 and Saturday 23rd April 2022 with the new name MaltingsFest. The event will take place, as previously, on Osbourne Park, Newton Abbot, opposite Tucker's Maltings.
For the first time it will include both cask and keg beers and to feature other drinks such as cider, gin etc that are also produced by brewers in the South West.

Sessions and prices:
Thursday 5pm - 11pm : £5
Friday 11am - 11pm : £8
Saturday 11am - 10pm : £5
All beers £1.75 per half pint - payment by token

There will be over 250 different draught beers. Most of the cask beers will be on until they run out, which hopefully won’t be until later on the Friday or Saturday (we have ordered extra casks of beers that we expect to be popular) and the keg beers and lagers will be available on a rotating basis; space and equipment constraints means that we can only have a limited number of taps to pour from, but there will always be a good cross section of styles available at any one time

A Message from Norman, Festival Organiser:

Following the sad closure of Tuckers Maltings in the autumn of 2018 we moved the festival into marquees on Osborne Park, the green space in front of the Maltings building in April 2019. Sadly, we were then unable to run a festival in 2020 or 2021 but the good news is that we’re back in 2022!
Renamed Maltingsfest, the 2022 event will take place between Thursday 21st and Saturday 23rd April, the weekend after Easter. We are hoping to make the festival bigger and better and you may have heard that keg beers, keg and still ciders and spirits are also being offered to our festival goers this year.
More so than ever we are grateful for the support from members of the local CAMRA branches who swell the numbers behind the bar serving the thirsty customers. We are primarily looking for help to serve the ale on gravity from the stillage so please don’t be concerned if you’re not comfortable serving keg products or spirits. You may also be aware that we set aside a proportion of the profits from the festival and distribute these to the branches whose members come to help us. The amount paid to each branch depends on the hours worked by their members, which is why it is very important to sign in and out when starting and finishing a shift, and of course the festival being profitable. To that end I would be grateful if the Branch Treasurers would forward the relevant details for payment by BACS.
I am happy for branch members to contact me directly to let me know when they would like to help out, or for someone in each branch to co-ordinate this, whichever works best for you. It is useful but not essential for us to have an idea in advance of when people are planning to come and offer their services.
Cheers,
David Lewis aka Norman
