Campaign for Real Ale

Durant Arms Beer & Cider Festival Sat 3rd September 2022

The forecast was for rain later, it had been so long since we saw any, we were quite looking forward to it! Our plan was to approach Ashprington by taxi from Totnes. Some of us gathered in the Signal Box Cafe for breakfast and then walked to the Waterman's to pass the time until 1pm when our taxi was due.
The taxi duly arrived and we were soon transported to Ashprington and the Durant Arms which was looking resplendent in the lunchtime sun. A few members had beaten us to it and were already sat enjoying the sun and ales.
There was a 'tap takeover' in the bar by Abbeydale Brewery from Sheffield, a rare treat for Devon. The four handpulls were taken up by Moonshine, Heathen, Obsession and one from the Dr. Morton range, Four Yorkshiremen of t'apocalypse. The Moonshine was in excellent form! There were also 9 Key Kegs available as well as 13 ciders.
The Beer Festival Bar was outside at the back of the pub offering 16 beers from 14 breweries from around the country. All were served from the cask by gravity. All the ones I tasted were in fine condition and I heard no complaints, well done to landlord Alan and his team!
The beers and ciders were all priced at £2/half and £4/pint, hot food was available all day. Later in the afternoon the promised rain arrived and the inside of the pub filled up. Out taxi arrived at 5pm on the dot and we were soon deposited outside the Albert to await our various buses.
All in all another excellent day out with good company and superb beers
