Newton Abbot 21st September 2022
Following a pre-crawl breakfast in The Richard Hopkins, a Wetherspoon’s pub, we all met up at midday in the Railway Brewhouse next to the Railway Station. Here the choices were Bass, Timothy Taylor Landlord or Tribute – a good start to the day!
Unfortunately things started to go downhill from then on. Our next pub, The Saracens Head did not have any real ales available so we didn’t linger and continued to the Royal British Legion Club where Butcombe Original and Black Sheep Bitter were available.
After the club we had a longish walk to The Swan Inn where there were just two from Otter Brewery available, followed by a shorter walk to The Union where the only real ale available was Wychwood Hobgoblin.
The group then split with half going to the Olde Cider Bar and the rest checking out The Golden Lion with an excellent Jail Ale. Then to Warrens for teatime snack and on to meet the others at The Dartmouth Inn. Then next door to Teign Cellars where we enjoyed the one beer – Yellowhammer (it was good). Some then to home with the rest to The Tap House: 3 beers on with 10% off Edwin Taylor for CAMRA members. Upstairs to the beer garden to watch the trains going by, (only possible if you’re 8 foot tall as Network Rail vegetation needs a haircut). That was the end and folks headed home.
