Campaign for Real Ale

Torquay & St Marychurch Social

This event turned out to be completely different to the original plan. First on arrival at Yates we discovered that food was no longer an option, so we rerouted to Wetherspoons Green Ginger just up the road.
Hole in the Wall Molloys While we were having breakfast the rain started, so the next venue was the Hole in the Wall, not far away. The choices here were IPA and Jail from Dartmoor, Timothy Taylor Landlord and Exeter's Ferryman. Still it rained. The decision now was to go to the furthest point of the day and work our way back to Torquay. Still it rained. This entailed catching a 22 bus to St. Marychurch, fortunately the bus stop was, again, fairly close.
The Dolphin When we arrived in St Marychurch it had stopped raining, so we walked the short distance to St Marychurch & Babbacombe Conservative Club where we were able to choose between St Austell's Hicks, and Tribute and Dartmoor Legend.
We now set off to walk through the centre of St Marychurch, calling at Molloys (Bay's Dumpling and Topsail, Proper Job and Doom Bar) followed by The Dolphin (Hanlons Yellow Hammer, Jail Ale and Otter Head) and finally to the Crown & Sceptre (Butcombe Gold and Jail)
We had one stop off on the way back to Torquay at The Kents where the choices were Tribute, Dartmoor IPA, Otter Amber and Doom Bar. Finally we made it back to Torquay and the TQ Beerhouse with Torbaydos, Stout and Hunt's Wobbler all on hand pumps.
So the original plan to visit Babbacombe fell by the wayside being replaced by St Marychurch using the 22 bus - blame the rain! If anyone failed to find us, then we apologise, but we are only a phone call away!
