Exmouth Social
It was sunshine all the way for our trip to Exmouth. Members converged on Exeter St. Davids from various stations to catch the 1151 to Exmouth. Once there we gathered initially in the Powder Monkey, a Wetherspoon's outlet conveniently close to the Station. After a sharpener there we set off, ably assisted by some members from Exeter Branch, to walk to The Bicton Inn.
This turned out to be an excellent example of a back street local with four real ales on hand pumps: two from Hanlon's, Port Stout and Citra IPA, along with Jail Ale and Teignmouth Portside. We were soon joined by more South Devon and Exeter members until we virtually filled the pub.
Our next call was just round the corner, the First & Last, a pub that turned out to be larger than it looked and also with a sunny outside drinking area.
Time was starting to catch up with us, so we called at the Strand for one on the way to the GWRSA Club next to the station where there was Hanlon's Yellow Hammer, Exeter Avocet, Abbot Ale and Otter Bitter to choose from. This was a convenient last call being next to the station, allowing members to leave and catch their various trains homeward.
