Haytor Hoppa Social

The Rugglestone A good crowd of about twenty members met at the Rugglestone Inn, Widecombe-in-the-Moor on a sunny Saturday. Some had arrived by the Haytor Hoppa bus service from Newton Abbot and some by car. The Rugglestone did not disappoint as usual with Moor Ale and Thirsty Blonde from Teignworthy plus Dartmoor Legend all served directly from the cask.
After a pleasant hour or two in the garden some departed to catch the Hoppa to either Manaton and the Kestor Inn or Bovey Tracey. We headed to The Kestor which was quite busy with everyone in the garden. Again Teignworthy Thirsty Blonde and Reel Ale were on offer.
Beers in the Cromwell We moved on to Bovey Tracey and started at the Cromwell, a St. Austell pub, where we had a choice of three beers: Tribute, Jail Ale and Timothy Taylor's Landlord.
After a short walk up the hill our next pub was the Bell. Another busy pub with a pleasant beer garden. Doom Bar appeared for the first time today, so Sharp's Twin Coast was the popular choice.
Next pub was just across the road, the Dartmoor Whisky Distillery where just one cask ale was available, again from Teignworthy, but this time Gun Dog. There was also cider from Sam's on hand pump.
A longer walk now, but at least down hill to The Dolphin, a Hall & Woodhouse outlet offering two from Badger, Tanglefoot and Fursty Ferret.
This was our last call and from there everyone departed to make their own ways home.
