Brixham Social

Wetherspoons regulars Wetherspoons specials As opposed to our usual sunny Wednesday this was obviously going to be just the opposite - it rained pretty well all day! The good thing about Brixham is that the harbour side is fairly compact and therefore the pubs are close together. Perhaps this inspired the members to turn up!
We started in the Vigilance, Brixham's Wetherspoons where many had breakfast before tasting the beers. It just happened to be their Autumn Beer Festival and, as a result, there were four from the festival on offer along with four of the regular offerings.
New Quay Inn Our next call was almost next door, The Birdcage where 6X and Landlord were on offer. Next after a slightly longer walk was the Golden Lion with London Pride and Tribute available.
It continued to rain for our longest walk of the day to The New Quay Inn, where Jail Ale, Doom Bar and Sharp's Twin Coast were on offer, the latter proving popular.
Time was getting on so it meant quick visits to The Blue Anchor and The Crown & Anchor, before catching the local bus up to The Queen's, our Cider Pub of the Year, at the top of the hill. As usual there was an attractive selection of cask ales and ciders to choose from. This was intended to be the last pub of the day, but I must confess a few of us stopped off at the Manor on the way down the hill to catch our respective buses homeward.
Despite the weather we had about 20 members join us throughout the day and, as usual, our visit to Brixham proved to be most enjoyable, our thanks to all the licensees for their hospitality.
