South Devon

Christmas Walkabout

King William IV It was a dull damp day when 30 members gathered at midday in th King William IV on Totnes Fore Street. The majority were, of course, from South Devon, but it was also good to see members from as far afield as Exeter and even Somerset. Numerous breakfasts had been consumed in either the Signal Box cafe or the King William, so by midday we were all ready for a few beers. There were three to choose from in the King William,a new addition to the 2025 Good Beer Guide: Jail Ale, Proper Job and Legend.
Patiently waiting in the Watermans Our next call was the Waterman's, where one beer is always served on gravity, Eagle this time.
Next was one of the extremities of the town centre, the Steam Packet, set on the bank of the River Dart, with a lovely outdoor patio for the summer. Jail Ale, Exeter Fall's Over & Salcombe Gold were the options here.
We now retraced our steps back to the Lord Nelson where London Pride was the beer of the day.
Almost next door was the Royal Seven Stars where Tribute was the choice of most.
From here we started to diverge somewhat with some going up the hill to The Totnes Brewing Co,(Citra) and the Bay Horse ((Noss Church Ledge & Otter Bright) some to The Albert (Queens Speech, Shark Island Stout, Cheeky Blonde.& Albert Ale) and some to Copperhead Brewery
A good day and a useful precursor to later in 2025 when we will be holding our annual Beer & Cider Festival in the Civic Hall (3-5 July).

This was our last social of 2024. Our thanks must go to all the licensees who have been our hosts throughout the year, we look forward to meeting many of you again in 2025!
