March Social to Paignton

We started in the Talk of the Town, a Wetherspoons outlet, where numerous breakfasts were consumed, before a choice of beers that included a couple from the Spring Beer Festival.
Next call was across the road to Harry's Bar where the choice was Palmers Dorset Gold or Doom Bar, the Gold was very popular!
Next we walked across the level crossing to the Queen Victoria, where there is only one handpull and the cask ran out on the first pull. The Upside bar nearby wasn't open yet, so we decided we would walk to The Torbay Inn, where,as usual, there were four handpulls in use. The choice was Tribute, Proper Job, Sea Fury or Dartmoor IPA
Our next call was anew one to me and to many of the nearly twenty members, The Devonport Arms, only a six minute walk. This is basic street corner locals pub offering just one cask ale - Doom Bar, nevertheless it was in good condition and was enjoyed by most.
We now had a bit further walk to The Coach House where the choice was between two Otters
Now came the important part of the day, the presentation of our Club of the Year certificate to Paignton Conservative Club. This is a frequent winner of this award. Colin Rudge, President and John Milford, Vice President were on hand to receive the certificate which was presented by Ian Packham our Vice Chairman. During and after the presentation we were given the opportunity to sample the Abbot Ale and the Old Golden Hen in fine form as usual.
Our last call of the day was the Upside Bar which was now open before heading off to catch various buses homeward, in our case a fictitious bus making the end of the day most frustrating - thank you Stagecoach!
