Haytor Hoppa

Harriet with 2026GBG A goodly crowd nearly filled the Hoppa at Newton Abbot Railway Station for the trip out to Widecombe, then a short walk to the Rugglestone. As usual the beers were served by gravity from the cellar with Moor Beer, Legend and Evening Star Revival APA available. We took the opportunity to present Harriet with their 2026 Good Beer Guide Licensee Pack and then the twenty or so of us filled one of the snugs for an hour or so to enjoy the beers.
Our next call was the Old Inn, a Hall and Woodhouse pub, back in the centre of the village. This is a large pub with plenty of room for us all. We had the choice of Badger Tanglefoot and Best Bitter.
After another hour or so, it was back to the bus where there was a choice of stopping off at the Kestor at Manaton or continuing to Bovey Tracey. Those who chose the Kestor saw the presentation of their GBG 2026 Licensee Pack while enjoying Teignworthy's Neap Tide.
Meanwhile in Bovey Tracey the Dartmoor Whisky Distillery, the Bell and the Cromwell Arms were visited. The Cromwell had three beers available Timothy Taylor Landlord, Jail Ale and Tribute. From here members started making their way homeward, initially via the Hoppa to Newton Abbot.
