South Devon

November Saturday Minibus Trip

The availability of a minibus and driver enabled us to organise a campaigning trip to visit the hard-to-get-to pubs in the Teign Valley and submit beer scores. We all joined the bus outside Newton Abbot Railway Station and we were away promptly heading towards our first pub, The Cridford Inn. Jail Ale and Otter Witch were available in this lovely old pub.
After about an hour we returned to the bus and set off for our next stop, the Artichoke Inn, where Firebrand's Shipwreck Coast and Sharp's Winter Solstice made a nice change.
Next came the Teign House Inn, where there were three to choose from, Powder Keg Hops & Dreams, Quantock Endless Autumn and Otter Bitter.
Eventually we moved on to the Bridford Inn where we chose between Jail Ale, Dragon's Breath and Banks's Amber. the last two proving very popular.
Our last pub of the day was the Palk Arms where Teignworthy Gundog and Hennock Gold, a local brew were available.
All too soon it was time to head back to Newton Abbot to allow members to continue their journey's homeward. Our sincere thanks must go to Chris Davey from Kingscare, our driver for the day.
It was good to get to some different, attractive country pubs offering some thing different to the frequent Jail Ale, Legend and two Otters, as nice as they may be.
