South Devon

Branch 50th Anniversary

The South Devon branch of CAMRA had its first meeting in the Golden Lion, Brixham on the 9th July 1975, so we thought it appropriate to celebrate with a meeting there in 2025 to celebrate 50 years.
The wettest, windiest night of the year so far did not prevent 35 members filling the bar of the Golden Lion.
First of all Vice Chairman Ian said a few words to thank Bob Southwell for his sterling work during 12 years as Chairman. Bob responded with some memories of that time.
Next Chairman Clive gave a resumé of CAMRA over the past 50 years before presenting Rick Zaple, one of the founder members, with a souvenir Anniversary polo shirt. This was followed by the presentation to Alex Warmsley, the current Golden Lion Licensee of a blue plaque, a framed collage of relevant news articles and a CAMRA certificate.
All that was left now was to enjoy the Tribute and Jail Ale before venturing homeward in the wind and rain.
