Dartmouth Mid Week Social

On the 18th March our social was to Dartmouth. Many of us met in Dudley's Café, run by CAMRA members, for breakfast; following that we met for our first beer in the Seven Stars, reckoned to be the oldest pub in town (16thC). There were 21 of us there to enjoy the Jail Ale, Tribute and Otter Amber available. From the Seven Stars it was an easy walk to the Cherub, the oldest building in town only becoming a pub in 1958. Here we had the choice of Jail Ale, 'Fraid Not and Tudor brewery's Cwrw Am Byth. Next was a short walk to the Market House where we enjoyed the choice of Proper Job or Otter Bitter. Now, with the pubs being close together, the team split up to visit the Dolphin, Woodforde's Bure Gold and Legend, the Conservative Club, Avocet, Legend and Hobgoblin Gold, The Seale Arms, Wadworth 6X, and the George & Dragon, Proper Job.
Some now started leaving to catch their homeward buses, Dartmouth is not always the easiest to get by bus! Others went to the Royal Castle, now a St Austell hotel.
A large proportion continued to the Albert Inn in Totnes on their way homeward. The day had been sunny with a clear sky, it really felt as though spring had sprung!
