93S Bus Social
Over the last few years we have had a mid-week social using the Stagecoach 93 bus to visit pubs between Dartmouth and Kingsbridge. Unfortunately, as a result of a recent storm, the coast road between Strete and Torcross has been severed, so the 93 now turns off at Strete and doesn't pass another pub until it reaches Kingsbridge.
There is, however, a 93S, a shuttle service between Kingsbridge and Torcross, so we gathered in Kingsbridge to catch the 1140 for Torcross.
We arrived promptly and made a bee-line for the Start Bay Inn where we had the choice of Proper Job, Dartmoor IPA or two from Otter. After all the problems this pub has suffered as a result of the storm, it was good to find it up and running and busy.
Our next stop, after a 20 minute walk, was South Hams Drinks brewery tap adjacent to Stokeley Farm Shop. As usual there were six of their beers to choose from, plus some kegs.
While we there Dave Wheeler, our Secretary and Assistant Beer Festival Organiser took the opportunity to present Sam and Dan with festival polos in thanks for their sponsorship at the recent Totnes Beer & Cider Festival.
Our next call was the Church House Inn at Stokenham, about a half hour walk from Stokeley. Otter Bitter was the only option here. As the Tradesman's wasn't open yet we caught the next shuttle bus back to Kingsbridge, where, those who had time before their homeward buses, went to the Hermitage Inn where the choice was between Tribute and Bays Cheetah Ale.
