This hotel was built in the 19th-century, as a coaching inn. With its position at the bottom of the town it also benefited from the coming of the railways, as it was only about 200 yards from the station on the Newton Abbot to Moretonhampstead Line, when it opened in 1866. The Hotel has a comfortable and spacious bar/lounge, with the actual bar itself being U-shaped. There is a patio at the front of the premises with bench seating, together with a large carpark at the rear. It has 8 bedrooms and a function room that can cater for 50/100 for a 'sit down' or 150 for a buffet.
