Popular award winning local run by the same family for many years close to St Marychurch shopping precinct. The interior decor is traditional wood and stone with the ceiling adorned with chamber pots, pennants and other interesting paraphenalia. Music is an important theme with gentle background music from the 60s and 70s. Live music Mondays, Tuesdays are Jazz nights, alternate Wednesdays and Fridays are Folk, and occasional Saturdays. A regular music night "upstairs@theCrown" featuring well known acts (see their Facebook page for more details). Dogs and families are welcome and there are two enclosed gardens. Food is 'home made' pies and bar meals at lunchtime, with roast lunches served on Sundays. This pub was in the GBG for 35 consecutive years then dropped out for a while due to family circumstances. (That's 37 times since 1975 which makes it a record holder in the South Devon area.) Now it's back in and is looking as good as ever.
