South Devon Camra SUNSHINE Beer & Cider Festival
It's been a long time since South Devon CAMRA had it's last Beer Festival – 2012, but we are celebrating 25 years since the first one at St John's Ambulance Hall, East Street, Newton Abbot. We hope to have some beers from that era at this years festival.
A lot has changed since then. There has been an increase in beer festivals in recent years, especially locally with festivals supporting charities. There have been many changes in the way festivals are marketed with very powerful social media, i.e., when this year's festival was first advertised on Newton Abbot Rugby Club's Facebook pages, it had over 4000 hits in one day and at the time of writing, up to 6000 hits. So, in conclusion, things are always changing. Therefore, this festival must be 'a festival with a difference'. As Festival Organiser, I am responsible for implementing the correct changes to bring it into the modern world we live in and to also make it a festival to attract everyone – families, younger people and people of all backgrounds to attend and enjoy.
I am backed by a management team of 10 branch members for whom I am extremely grateful for volunteering to help so far. Most of them were helping to find a venue since November last year, during the early days of planning.
Again, this festival is about attracting new people to have a different view of CAMRA but still promote CAMRA's core values.
We hope you all have a good time and we look forward to meeting existing and new friends.
